In the Whot loser's speech, he seems to be blaming himself for asking for square, but unless you had the same number as his last card in a different shape (and somehow he could tell), asking for square was his best choice.
Moral lesson for me is that you can do your best in life and—by no fault of yours—still get Pick 3.
